How to prevent the deposition of silicon scale?

For reverse osmosis pretreatment, on the one hand, it is necessary to prevent the suspended impurities, colloids, and microorganisms from contaminating the membrane, and on the other hand, to prevent the precipitation of insoluble salts on the membrane. The solubility of silicon is related to the temperature and pH of the water. When the concentration of silicon present in the RO feed water is greater than 20 mg/L, silica scaling tendency must be calculated. When the pH is less than 9, most of the silicon exists in the form of silicic acid, namely H4SiO4 or Si(OH)4; at a lower pH, silicic acid will aggregate to form a colloid, which is called silica gel; at pH>9, certain The amount of silicon exists as silicate SiO32-; at higher pH values, SiO32- forms salt precipitates with calcium, magnesium, and aluminum. Since silica scale cleaning is difficult, it is necessary to prevent scaling on the membrane.
