Civilian protective masks look promising again

With the frequent attacks of smog in recent years, air purifiers and masks have become the new darling on the market, and major manufacturers have launched related products in order to seize the market. But what about masks worn on them? What is the difference in the level of protection effect in case of squatting? It is reported that from November 1st, the "Technical Specification for Daily Protective Masks" (hereinafter referred to as the "Code") was formally implemented. This is China's first national standard for protective respirator masks. However, the "Code" makes it clear that this standard "does not apply to children's masks."

According to the “Code,” civilian respirator masks are classified into A, B, C, and D grades, and the corresponding protective effect at each level is not less than 90%, 85%, 75%, and 65%, respectively. The applicable air quality index at all levels The categories are heavily polluted, serious and below, heavy and below, medium and below. The "Specifications" stipulates that the level of protective effect will appear in the relevant signs of protective masks.

The "Specification" is clearly stated as a standard. "This standard does not apply to children's masks." In this regard, the experts explained that due to the large differences in children's physical characteristics, the accumulation of medical data and experimental data on the effects of respiratory resistance on children's growth has yet to be improved, so the "Specification" does not make special provisions for children's masks.

How to properly wear protective masks?

Wear hands before wearing masks and before and after removing masks.

Make masks close to the face;

The face of the mask is colored outwards, with one side of the metal plate upwards;

Fasten the rope securing the mask, or loop the rubber band of the mask around the ear so that the mask is tight against the face;

Masks should cover the mouth, nose and chin completely;

Press the metal sheet on the mask tightly along both sides of the nose bridge so that the mask fits the face.

After wearing a mask, avoid touching the mask to prevent it from degrading; if you must touch the mask, wash your hands thoroughly before and after touching.

When removing the mask, avoid touching the outer part of the mask as much as possible, as this part may be contaminated with germs.

After removing the mask, put it in a tape or paper bag and place it in a covered trash can.

Masks should be replaced at least once a day. If the masks are damaged or soiled, they should be replaced immediately.
