Ambient temperature: Xiangxuelan prefers cool, humid and well-lit environment, and has poor cold resistance. The suitable temperature for growth is 15-20 °C, and the lowest temperature for wintering is 3-5 °C. Temperature conditions of 13.5 ~ 15 ° C can promote bulb rooting and germination. Flower bud differentiation requires a low temperature of 8 to 13 ° C, and the flower bud development period requires a suitable temperature of 13 to 18 ° C. Below 18 ° C, the flowering period is postponed and the flower stem is shortened. Higher temperatures promote early flowering, but plant growth is weak.
Soil: Suitable for growth in loose, fertile sandy loam soil. For home planting, usually 2/3 of peat soil is added to artificial culture soil prepared by 1/3 fine sand.
Light: Short-day conditions favor the flower bud differentiation of fragrant scented orchids, and after flower bud differentiation, long-day sunshine can bloom early.
Fertilization: Fertilizer and water are required during the growth period, organic liquid fertilizer is applied once every two weeks, and compound fertilizer can be applied in an appropriate amount. The potting soil is required to see dry and wet, not water or too dry.
Flowering period: Usually the bulbs are planted in September, and the flower buds begin to differentiate in about the beginning of November, and the differentiation is completed in late November. After the plant reached May of the next year, the leaves gradually withered and the bulbs entered a natural dormant period.
