The good prospects for the inter-vehicle networking show that information has quietly entered the passenger car industry

In July 2010, Hubei Xianning Unicom and Fengning Bus Company of Xianning City signed a strategic cooperation agreement to use WCDMA technology to promote the application of urban intelligence public transportation informatization. In September, Zibo of Shandong Province and Wuhan of Hubei Province successively promoted intelligent bus management systems such as “3G smart bus” and “car networking”.

While local bus companies continued to promote the process of public transportation informatization, domestic bus companies Suzhou Jinlong and China Unicom have recently signed a "Strategic Framework Cooperation Agreement," which aims to use the integrated application of the G-BOS Smart Operation System as a base platform for China. Relying on China Unicom's 3G network, it integrates vehicle-mounted, Internet, and mobile communication services into one vehicle operation service platform system.

Today, informationization has quietly entered the passenger car industry, and the opportunities for using information technology to drive the development of the passenger car sector are already evident.

Bus company: 3G system goes into the bus

Since 2009, the 3G system has been gradually applied in the bus operation system, including 3G video surveillance for more than 1,700 public transportation devices in Jinan. Followed by Guangdong, Shanghai, Shandong, Suzhou, Quanzhou and other places, successfully applied more than 50 bus mobile information projects.

“At present, there are 4 camera lenses on each bus in Zibo, which can obtain real-time monitoring of road conditions and vehicle condition information in the first time.” According to relevant person in charge of Shandong Zibo Unicom, the system has entered a mature stage. The system can realize the functions of bus positioning, remote video monitoring, automatic reporting, and business scheduling through the four monitoring facilities on the bus.

It is reported that Zibo's "3G Smart Bus" system was jointly constructed by Zibo City Unicom and Zibo Bus Company. The system took full advantage of China Unicom's "Wo 3G" technology is mature, widely used, the advantages of fast transmission speed, will Unicom 3G, wireless LAN, GPRS positioning and other technologies, and Zibo City bus company information system organic integration.

The relevant person in charge of Zibo Unicom stated that Zibo Bus Company has installed 3G video monitoring systems on more than 530 public transport vehicles, which are used in 29 bus lines in the city and all special routes for provincial games. The operation of this system provides a visual basis for improvement and command decision-making of the Zibo public transport operation system. Zibo's public transport system will also install "3G smart bus" systems for more than 2,000 buses in succession. It is expected that Zibo will enter the national "smart monitoring" bus ranks in the next 3 to 5 years.

“At present, there is not much difference in the smart public transport systems used by domestic provinces, and they can realize functions such as smart dispatching and video surveillance to enhance the public security prevention and control capabilities such as theft. The social response is very good.” Related people in the company's information center also told the "Commercial Automotive News" reporter.

In addition to the “3G Smart Bus,” other provinces and cities across the country have also taken some actions. "Commercial Automotive News" reporter was informed that Fujian Quanzhou Bus Group Corporation and China Mobile launched a business cooperation, and will be launched in November this year, smart scheduling system, to achieve bus services such as swiping convenience services.

Bus company: it is a trend

“The 'car network' will play an important role in the development of the bus industry in the future and will be a trend for future development.” Yang Chaoxia, executive vice minister of the Yutong Bus Products Management Department, told the “Commercial Automotive News” reporter that information technology is currently in use in China. There are two main applications in the field of bus: First, the powerful bus companies independently cooperate with the telecommunications companies to develop a series of information systems that are easy to operate and manage; second, bus companies and communication companies cooperate to provide intelligent users Passenger car products.

"Yutong's online version of the smart bus displayed at Shanghai BAAV is taking into account the needs of passenger transport companies." Yang Chaoxia said that most domestic passenger transport companies do not have the strength to conduct independent cooperation with telecommunications companies, such as private tourism passenger transport companies. To achieve information management or operation of passenger cars is far from simple. Therefore, bus companies must consider this aspect while developing new products. “The best condition is to provide real-time conditions of the road system. For example, during the running of the vehicle, the distance between the front and rear vehicles can be reminded to prevent rear-end collision and other phenomena.” Yang Chaoxia said.

Yang Chaoxia stated that resource sharing is the main purpose of “car networking”. “For example, if a truck is sent from Henan to Beijing, it will cause cost loss if the empty car goes back. However, if we learn the local supply situation in Beijing through the way of car networking, it will reduce the pressure on the empty return journey.”

"Now the general trends are like this, informationization, electronicization, safety, energy conservation, etc. must be achieved through various technical means. And the 'car network' can indeed achieve these functions in many aspects, not just just 'connecting' vehicles." Li An, chief engineer of the system design for Haiger Bus G-BOS, told Commercial Auto News.

Then, how long does it take for "car networking" to be widely used in China?

"Now the link between vehicles and the Internet has already had a certain basis, but to expand the depth and breadth of cooperation, it depends on the support of national policies and the promotion of local governments." Yang Zhaoxia said. Li An also believes that it is difficult to give an accurate timetable. This process requires various cooperation in order to make it possible to realize the interconnection of vehicles and the Internet as soon as possible.
