Symptom 1: The coating cracks and falls off
Cause: The early appearance of the coating showed cracks like hair strands. In the later stage, exfoliation occurred. Most of them used coatings with poor adhesion and flexibility, excessive dilution or covering coating, wall or base surface pretreatment. Sufficient, the coating film is excessively hardened and embrittled after aging.
Recommendation: Use a spatula or wire brush to remove loose and peeling paint, sand the surface and trim. If peeling occurs on multiple coats, water-resistant putty should be used if necessary. The primer should be sealed before recoating. The use of high quality primers and topcoats can prevent recurrence of such problems. Do not over dilute the coating with water.
Symptom 2: mildew
Cause: Black, gray, or brown spots appearing on the surface of a paint or wall where it is wet, has little light, or is out of direct sunlight. The mold spots on the substrate or coating were not cleaned before using inferior emulsion paint or before painting.
Recommendation: Drop a few drops of household bleach in the place where the color is changed to check for the presence of mold. If the stain disappears, it may be mold. Rinse the surface with a diluted household bleach solution (one bleach to three parts water) to thoroughly remove mold and wash thoroughly with rubber gloves and goggles while working. In order to avoid mold on the wall, use a high-quality latex paint from a regular manufacturer, wash the base with a bleach/detergent solution if necessary, and consider installing an exhaust fan in a high humidity area.
Symptom 3: Coating wrinkles
Cause: The paint was applied too thickly at the time of painting, and the surface of the paint film became rough and wrinkled. Brushing in very hot or cold weather can cause the surface of the film to dry faster than the underlying layer or expose the uncured film to an excessively humid environment.
Recommendation: Scrap or polish the surface of the substrate to remove the wrinkled coating. If a primer is applied, make sure the primer is completely dry before applying the topcoat. When repainting (avoid extreme temperature and humidity), apply a layer of high quality interior paint evenly. Symptom 4: Coating yellowing
Reason: Ordinary coatings are often exposed to sunlight. From the furnace, heating, heating pipes or other materials, it is prone to yellowing discoloration due to UV aging and other substances.
Recommendation: For places with strong sunlight or pollution, it is recommended to use high-quality latex paint with anti-aging and light resistance for decoration.
