Breakthrough in research and development of perovskite solar cells in China

China has made important breakthroughs in the field of perovskite battery research and development. The team of Professor Han Liyuan from Shanghai Jiaotong University and Suzhou Liyuan New Energy Technology Co., Ltd. jointly developed the energy conversion efficiency of 36 square centimeters perovskite solar modules to exceed 12%.

This result was published in the "Solar Cell Efficiency Record Sheet" published by the authoritative magazine in the field of photovoltaics a few days ago, and was certified by the international authoritative certification agency Japan Industrial Technology Research Institute.
Because of its many advantages such as low production costs, perovskite solar cells are regarded as one of the most promising new energy batteries to replace traditional petrochemical energy sources.

According to reports, Professor Han Liyuan's team used printing to replace the laboratory spin coating process, making it possible to make large areas of uniform molds. While improving the effective area of the battery through high-precision integrated module design, combined with the improvement of the material formula, the repeatability and reliability of the production efficiency of the battery pack are ensured.

Dr. Han Han from the Solar Conversion Materials Research Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University said that the above research has overcome the technical bottleneck of large-scale preparation of perovskite battery packs, which is of great significance for promoting its large-scale industrialization process.

Professor Ma Xinsheng, director of the Superfine Powder National Engineering Research Center, said that compared with traditional thin-film batteries, perovskite thin-film batteries can get rid of the dependence on the environment and high-cost raw materials, greatly reducing the difficulty of operation and equipment costs. Its industrialization prospects are good, and it is expected to break the current monopoly of silicon solar cells.

As the most widely used new energy battery on the market, silicon solar cells occupy about 90% of the market share of photovoltaic modules. While the production costs have dropped significantly, the efficiency of crystalline silicon battery packs has also begun to enter a "bottleneck period", making it more difficult to reduce costs and increase efficiency.

Against this background, perovskite solar cells, which have the advantages of low production costs, simple production materials and processes, and green environmental protection in the production process, have begun to gain more and more attention.

In recent years, a large amount of technology and industrial capital have successively entered the field of perovskite solar cells, driving their photoelectric conversion efficiency to continuously improve. However, the area of perovskite batteries currently developed is mostly 1 square centimeter and below, and the technical challenges facing large-area high-efficiency components have become a major obstacle for them to step out of the laboratory and move towards large-scale production.
