Liu Xiangfeng, 35, is a painting engineer and currently works for a shipbuilding company in Greece. In July 2005, he as a maintenance personnel boarded the predecessor of China's first aircraft carrier, the former Soviet aircraft carrier "Varyag", and sprayed about 150,000 square meters with the workers for the ship, and painted the ship inside and outside. . 1. In 2002, “Varyag†was settled in Dalian Port.
In May 1998, Liu Xiangfeng, a Yiyang young man who worked in Zhengzhou for several years, applied to a mechanical equipment company in Shenzhen, where he was mainly responsible for the rust and paint work of the ship. In September of that year, due to the company's business relationship, Liu Xiangfeng and more than 100 other colleagues were sent to the new Dalian Shipbuilding Plant, where their main job was to build new civilian vessels.
One day in 2002, Liu Xiangfeng, who was working at the dock, found that there was a giant ship not far from the coastline. This big guy is different from the average vessel. It is not only twice as long as the average passenger ship, but also has a high deck. Tilted up, much like the skid deck on the aircraft carrier seen on the picture for the takeoff and landing of the plane.
This giant vessel caught everyone's attention. Later, the old staff of the local shipyard said that this is the former Soviet aircraft carrier "Varyag". Liu Xiangfeng said: "At first glance, it was found to be unusual. However, after a few years of sailing around the earth, it was settled in Dalian Port. The hull has long been rusty and looks very old."
Since then, the "Varyag" has been silently parked in the sea. Liu Xiangfeng will look at it from time to time when he comes to the dock. 2. In 2005, they received the task of “beauty†for the aircraft carrier.
At the beginning of July 2005, the company urgently informed them to repair a "special" vessel and had a special "personal" training for them: they were required to strictly abide by the secrecy system and could not disclose their work to the outside world, including relatives and friends. . Liu Xiangfeng recalled: "We are very excited to receive this notice. Although we don't talk about it, we all know that we have to board the aircraft carrier!"
The next day, as a paint supervisor, Liu Xiangfeng, together with four technicians, wore a special boarding pass and boarded the "special" vessel, the "Varyag". In the past, I just watched from afar. When I actually boarded the ship and stood on a wide deck like the Grand Plaza, Liu Xiangfeng couldn’t hide her inner excitement. I couldn’t help but stay on the deck for a while before I started to ship. an examination.
The "Varyag" has been used for several years on the way back to China. After arriving in Dalian, it was placed in the sea for several years. Liu Xiangfeng found that the hull paint had been peeled off in a large area, the steel structure was rusted in a large area, and the half of the ship was still slightly better. 3, fighting for more than two months, successfully completing the arduous task
To paint the entire ship, the first step is to clean the hull. In order to remove the shells adsorbed on the bottom of the ship, more than 100 staff members went into battle at the time. Each person took a shovel and shoveled them off the boat a little. It took a full three days to shovel and the shells were shoveled down. Installed a few big trucks. This has never been encountered in Liu Xiangfeng's previous work.
Liu Xiangfeng's work is mainly to check the quality of paint spraying. He boarded the boat early in the morning and worked with the painters to keep up with the progress of the project. “Spray paint must first rust the hull, then apply primer, intermediate paint, anti-fouling paint, each step is very important.†Liu Xiangfeng said that due to the particularity of the aircraft carrier, it needs to use a kind of anti-rust ability. Super "tar", because this oil is too toxic, it is rarely used on ordinary ships. Painters must wear anti-virus masks when applying this paint.
“This kind of 'tar' is very toxic. Even if it is not in direct contact, it can burn out the exposed skin by volatilizing the air. Although there are protective measures in operation, the skin around the neck is burnt out. That's it. And no one has retired, everyone wants to do their part for China’s first aircraft carrier."
In mid-September of that year, after more than two months of hard work, the painting work was successfully completed. The iconic gray painting of the Chinese Navy replaced the previously faint rust, and the worn-out "Varyag" was completely new. After the work was completed, Liu Xiangfeng and the workers left the building reluctantly.
Because of the confidentiality system at the time, Liu Xiangfeng knew that their newly painted ship would become China’s first aircraft carrier, but in the years after he left, he never mentioned this matter to anyone, just paying close attention to the news.
