Shanghai Yingwu Institute made progress in the research of subnanometer ferrite catalysts

Recently, researchers from the Department of Materials and Energy, Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Rui Rui and Jia Chunjiang, professor of Shandong University, and Dr. Ma Chao from University of Science and Technology of China, have prepared and catalyzed the use of ruthenium dioxide-supported subnanometer-sized ferrite catalysts. Progress has been made in the structure-activity relationship of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction. Its research results were published in full text on the catalysis journal ACS Catalysis (2016, 6, 3072-3082).

Due to the high proportion of exposed interfacial active sites, sub-nananocluster catalysts tend to exhibit superior catalytic activity compared to common nano-sized catalysts. Most of the previous studies on sub-nanometer catalysts involve the construction of noble metal-related atomic or cluster-level catalysts, while the research on relatively active and more economical transition metal catalysts is relatively blank. In addition, in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction (CO+H2→(CH)x+H2O), which is essential in the field of energy catalysis, due to the complexity of the catalyst structure and the harsh reaction conditions, the structure-activity relationship of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis catalyst has been Difficulties in research. In response to the above problems, Si Rui worked closely with Jia Chunjiang and Ma Chao to fully utilize the structural unitary properties of ruthenium dioxide-supported subnanometer-sized ferrite clusters and to use synchrotron X-ray absorption fine structure spectroscopy (XAFS). High-resolution transmission electron microscopy (Cs-corrected HRETM) combined with spherical aberration correction and electron energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) systematically investigated the Fe-Ox-Fe clusters and Fe-Ox-Ce cluster catalysts in the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction. Structural evolution process. Combined with the investigation of the electronic structure and short-range coordination information of Fe atoms (Fe-O, Fe-Fe and Fe-Ce) at different reaction times, the Fe-O-Fe clusters with weak interaction forces were inferred and verified. It has superior performance in the catalytic Fischer-Tropsch synthesis reaction. This work provides an important experimental method for investigating the structure change and structure-activity relationship of supported catalysts at the atomic level, and also has guiding significance for the fine structure characterization of other similar catalyst systems. The three reviewers fully affirmed the work, and two of the reviewing experts gave top 10% of the top evaluation in the field.

Dr. Yang Qi from Shanghai Yingwu Research Institute and Fu Xinpu, Ph.D. student at Shandong University, were the co-first authors of the paper. The relevant XAFS tests were completed on the Shanghai Light Source BL14W1 station and the US APS light source 20-ID-B station. This work was jointly supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the 100-person plan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and the strategic pilot nanometer project of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
